Having enjoyed many years working with artists in our former lives we are delighted to announce the opening of ‘The Studio’, a dedicated space for visiting artists. The studio is a one-bedroom cottage available to artists who would like to spend some time in South West France. It’s up to you how you use your time; whether it be on reflection, planning, developing your practice or making new work. It’s also up to you how much you decide to pay for your time at Bassinaud. Inspired by organisations like Slung Low in Leeds, all our events at Bassinaud are ‘Pay What You Decide’ and we want to extend this principle to The Studio. All we ask for is a €100 a week deposit to reserve your stay, for up to a maximum of four weeks, as a measure of your commitment to being here.
Bassinaud is not accessible by public transport so is useful to have a car. However, if you don’t or would rather not drive then we would be happy to pick you up from nearby railway stations in either Montmoreau, with connecting services to Bordeaux, or Angoulême which connects by high-speed TGV to Paris. Whilst you are here we would be happy to take you to the local supermarket and markets when we are going ourselves. The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen in which you can make your own meals, as well as a barbecue on one of its two outdoor spaces. You should note that the headroom upstairs is quite limited! There is more information about Bassinaud itself on this website but it is hard to imagine a more tranquil and contemplative place in which to spend a week or two.
